Records show that our local communities have had a Scouting presence since 1922. Today's enthusiastic and dedicated Leadership team continues to provide Scouting opportunities to local young people, actively engaging and supporting them in their personal development and empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. Scouting is open to both boys and girls from age 6, who can learn skills for life whilst making new friends, having fun, playing games, team-building and trying new challenges.

Beavers meet in their Colonies to hop, skip and jump their way through games and activities, having fun along the way. Cubs have an exciting programme with a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, encouraging them to be creative thinkers, try new things, become more aware of their environment and to become involved in their local communities. Scouts develop and build on the skills learnt at Beavers and Cubs, and take part in a broader range of more adventurous, wide-reaching activities that stretch their capabilities and develop independence.

Scouts of all ages are encouraged to take part in outdoor activities as well as indoor activities, and includes camps and residential experiences. Popular activities include archery, fencing, orienteering, campfires and camping, plus indoor activities such as circus skills, cooking, science experiments and music.

The group's wider plans continue to include hiking, outdoor cooking, camping, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing plus charity work in the community, and we continue to appeal to adults 18 years and above to consider volunteering their time to help us provide Scouting opportunities in our local communities.
